Research Idea One

How to shoot content so it looks like security camera content

the image of the security camera really depends on the image that wants to be communicated

- the saturated image provides a more paranormal feel and help dramatise actions as it accentuates and brightens the image while still keeping to the classic black and white mode with a bluey hue. what this says about the camera

-the black and white is easily recognisable and doesn't take away from the action itself but it still add tension through slight mystery as there is indistuguashable colour and is unfamiliar to what we see everyday .

-but there is also the slightly more modern 'Ring' type security cameras which often clear picture and full colour - this offers a more realistic everday camera and if displayed right could offer a thriller aspect

Pelco

Pelco is essentially a surveillance company provider for most of the U.S services so you might have seen their cctv cameras or security camera in 'hollywood' type media as it is widely familiar to the area. Pelco, while it is widely used in the U.s is also known for being the use of surveillance for places like Buckingham Palace, the Statue of Liberty and China's Presidential Palace. Pelco obviously doesn't just offer the style of camera you are seeing now which is a fixed and best used for outdoors but also the more refined 'indoor' camera which is their line of Dome cameras as this offers a clearer picture and also usually provide a 360 view. the other more modern option that is also very recognisable is their wedge/Corner camera which is as you would expect in the conner of rooms usually picking up footage from a specific area while still having high quality image. this company is only a good example of a source for surveillance that is widely used and therefore would be useful to use in media to be recognised. When applying this to our film opening i would focus more on the Wedge camera type as we online have to focus on the action we want to display and we just need to focus on the colouring/lighting.

How To Achieve:

While it is obvious that we will not be using real security image i wanted to explore what sources and types there were for a more genuine manufactured style we will create this. As we are creating a thriller i felt that going for a black and white camera image that is clearly age would have more of an impact and fit more classically also the Sarix Corner Camera 3(one of Pelco's cameras) offers this feature. Another choice i would make when editing this camera footage to fit more with thee corner camera style would be to cut the screen size down so there is a change from normal camera to surveillance, all that would be done is that the sides would be a little cropped but overall this would defiantly add a more real looking aspect to the content. Also the black and white look could be achieved by adding a filter during editing and just an enhancing increasing exposure of the video a little to create that artificial look the camera offers.
