Below is a review on how the test shot day/process went and how it could have been improved next time.
I believe that the outcome of our test shoot reflected what we were going for through planning and on the day but i do feel that a lot of the plot was lost and nothing seemed to connect. This problem comes less from the footage and more from our idea as we could have possibly chose a far too complex storyline and opening to portray. Another problem that lines up with our test shoot is that as we had such time restrictions it didn’t really allow us to fully reflect our full idea as so many shot were lost that we thought we unimportant through planning but after watching the outcome realise that there is not enough footage so our full plot was not really conveyed, just the shell of it . All together the film is about 1 minutes which is not anywhere near where we want or plan for it to be as we will draw out everything we shot much much more.
In our test shoot everything was very rushed and each shot was really just touched on, there was no long holding in shots which i feel is necessary when we film again as we want to create tension and dynamics in the characters and surroundings that we are developing. The main issue with this test shoot was that all the tension was lost as nothing was interesting enough to draw anyone in so there was no connection between audience and character, therefore no tension.
One thing I did like was the angled camera work of the hands tied and the final shot of the man passing out. For the hands tied i liked how the angle and CU gave it attention and anxiety.
The main development that i have to work on when moving forward would be shaping the story into something more easily translated into an opening and something that will connect and hook better than our current option.
