Jennifer Lame has become known as a Film editor very quickly as she has worked on many iconic films such as Francis Ha, Hereditary, Tenet and Marriage Story all which have been awarded massive praise and won her awards as well. So how does Lame do this?, what are her techniques that carry such a high success rate in her films? The answer comes down purely to her style of editing and this being her technique of cutting scenes most in the middle which creates the sense of the movie moving constantly and carrying over without the audience, Lame claims that she does this whenever she can. Most of her technique comes from trying out and experimenting with the director though. an interesting point is how she went about editing Hereditary as she claims “I don’t want to do a horror movie. I don’t like horror movies" and that she wouldn’t do it but the director but instead she offered that she would do the editing to follow the family and their relationships and this would pay off as we get more content and reflection in some of the relationships , it was an unexpected but effective way of editing horror.
