I have made a list of 4 ideas for a possible film opening during break to present to my class. These idea are could be the basis of my film opening if chosen.
Idea 1 -
Genre: drama/romance
What happens in the opening:
an older woman is told some bad news “I’m sorry to inform you….has passed”.
A flashback would then show the two women meeting through mutual friend and the love interest (the one that died) asking for her number after/something like that
It would then show/follow the main character reacting and then it would cut to the title when it is a front tracking shot of her.

extra:
At the beginning the older woman is told bad news “I’m sorry to inform you….has passed” then it goes to a flashback of the woman meeting up accidentally with her friend and her friend's friend is there(this person we later learn is the one that passed away). They all get food at a pub or resort t then it cut to the women leaving out the door of the pub and the friends friends asking for her number or sorting like that and then they talk(we don’t hear it) and the women turns around noticeably happy and then it cuts to title
Idea 2 -
Genre: Horror/mystery
What happens in the opening:
The man wakes up (blurry vision POV) then realising that his glasses are not on his bedside table gets out of bed, he can have a very organised bedside table and have a glasses stand
- Once out of bed we (the audience) see a blurry figure of a person in an over shoulder shot of the main character but they move out of the frame/the doorway quickly
then it cuts back to the man and we see realisation hit his face
then it is a close up shot of his hand reaching for a baseball bat that was leant on the bed and take hold of it the shot
then cuts back to the mans face top body and the camera zooms back to that we can see an open window and curtain blowing in the background, with him holding the baseball and looking determined
Narrative: the story would follow the man but as the film goes on it is revealed that the person/women trying to kill him as revenge as she found out he himself is a serial killer
Also sound would be very important as for most of the time we are in the man's POV and that is really what he is relying on
Idea 3
Genre: drama/romance
opens on a profile shot from inside a car of the front and back seat, they are listening to music and there is a person in the front of the car and there's a girl is the back, she hears ‘her song’ and she is just vining with it and the lighting is fades in slightly saturated purple/pink/blue lighting and the car will be haze because someone is smoking
then it cuts to the profile of the other side where there is a person looking at her with adoration/ they are mesmerised and it hold on him for a bit
It cuts back to her and she turns to look at the camera slightly and smiles then there is a bright light coming from the front of the car and the screen cuts to black at the same time that the sound effect of a car crash happens
Then the title would appear with possibly a voice over of the person we saw before mesmerised by the girl saying like “shit” or something along those lines
Narrative:
The rest of the story would follow the two people focused on meeting and their individual life and how they fit together up to the point of the car crash.
Idea 4
Genre: drama
What happens in the opening:
Opens on a family in a car listening to an audiobook all in a slightly disorganised seating position
Then it changes to a tracking shot of the family of 5 walking in a line all dress in black but still slightly eccentric outfits, a campers tune i the back
They then pull up to a church decorated with colourful balloons and other birthday decorations.
They turn in and the man in the font of the line come to a large photo of a women with the border writing “in loving memory of” then he says something like ‘hey mom’ while holding the big photo then they keep walking and go into the church
then there is no soundtrack just ambient sound and they all walk out the next minute except for the father, they're all noticeably older and look very normal compared to their previous outfits
They all seem out of touch as they are distancing themselves from each other noticeably
Then the mother start to walk out through the entrance of the church and they all follow and as they leave it is a tracking shot and then we stay at a certain moment where the dads photo is now being placed where his moms photo was before, and the campers tune starts playing again and it cuts to a bright title
Narrative:
The women dealing with loss and growing in their individual lives which come back to their roots after their dad dies, with occasional fashbacks to their childhood.

3/4 women dealing with growing, changing and grieving - Drama, Loss, Growing, Femininity
Stanly Gucci audiobook playing - a family of 4 all dressed in black in a car all sitting sin a slightly weird portion
“There it is, turn in here”
Tracking shot from the side of The family walking in Line on the sidewalk with a campers whistle in the back - non diegetic soundtrack
The dad is holding his hat/a cat/ a single flower(rose or something) and a mini keyboard
It tracks to the next section of the mom and The youngest is behind the mom holding a gift “ mom what do I do with it/can you hold it”
The mom taps her two times
“Just hold it/no babe”
It is once again the side tracking and the entrance of the church comes into view with a photo of a women smiling really big and confetti images/stickers around the border with balloons tired to it, the turn and enter and as they do so the camera turn to be tracking in front of the last two girls at the end of the line one is holding a huge bag of confetti and swimming it around
“This is fucking weird right”
Sighs ”yep” they are used to stuff like this
They enter the church
They all exit the church in a line but they are visibly older and all dressed in black- time has passed
as they exit they disperse in different directions so they are all standing a good distance, the dad is not with them the mom has a tissue\9 he’s dead) they are all very awkward so we get the sense that they are no longer close or in touch, the dad keep them together and it it just the ambient sound to show his presence lost. The mom leaves first to move closer to what we then see has changed to be a photo of the dad and we see her touch it,
- we then see in the background the other girls moving together and pass they do so they once again from a one and the camera turns to a still shot from the back / a tracking shot from the other side with the campers whistle playing again as they all get into the same car/ go off into their own cars then the title comes
Or
- we stay of the photo of the dad and it cuts to title with a happy campers tuen coming back in
